Thanks you guys, for helping me out here.
I really am pathetic I guess.
For one, I probably wouldn't have picked any of the things you guys did - (hence my need to query those who are smarted than I) and in the end, the organizers allowed me to have three entries, so along with the Joe -vs- the Java painting, I ended up going with what you guys chose as fotos:
The first one was Farmstead, and the second was Hooded Mermaid.
So I had them printed out at a buh-zillion dpi today, matted and framed and delivered into the hands of the organizers..
The next question is:
apparently they are having an "Artists Reception" friday night...
Is it "bad form" if I do not attend?
I detest forced social events, but I also do not want to piss anybody off.
Since it is the first time I am in this partiular show, I probably should attend out of respect, shouldn't I?
Crap!
You're probably right.
Ok.
Well, thanks for answering that.
;o)
Of course you should go!
ReplyDeletehere's why you shouldn't go:
you go and there are a bunch of snotty "artsy" people and you're bored and out of your element.
but why you should go:
you meet a lot of nice people and make some good friends and good aquaintences.
In my experiences of art receptions there are a little of both types that show up, but by far the meeting the nice people far out weigh the few snotty ones. :-)
Plus it gives the ones who like your artwork a chance to thankyou for presenting it to them, and I think that's important too. Not the 'getting credit' but the letting of the people return the joy your artwork gave them in gratitude back to you. People like telling an artist how much they liked their work. You ought to give em that opportunity to do so I think.
:-)
Good luck!
Yes and between you and a friend of mine from LA, I am properly humbled and realise that I better go and be happy abou it.
ReplyDelete;o)
I find that form of socialising SO difficult though.
Thanks for the reality check!
