I have been invited to submit one photo as well as a canvas to a local art show. I
already know which canvas I am putting up this time around (Joe -vs- The Java) but I don't know which photo to submit. My deadline is tomorrow.
I have posted the entries here:
Warren Burial Ground
Hooded Mermaid
Towel Butterfly
Shadow Puppets
Farmstead
Madras House
Can you please vote using the comment section below, either that or email me privately if you prefer?
I really haven't ever submitted any photos to a show yet and am torn as to which I shoud pick.
I only want to submit one.
Thanks for your help!

I vote for Warren Burial Ground with Madras House a close second. They're all wonderful, but I so love old cemeteries and the brooding atmosphere of the house is moody and lovely.

We like the butterfly. (Two votes, the wife and me.)
ReplyDeleteGood luck!
hey thanks you guys!
ReplyDeleteThese were truly untouched photos (rare for me - the Photoshop addict) and I appreciate your input as I am kinda at a loss.
Thanks for your input.

They are all worthy of submission; however, Madras takes my vote with Puppets and Cemetary a close second. The flutterby is good color but the arrangement is skewed and is unsettling for me, personally.
ReplyDeleteI like farmstead... shadowpuppets or the mermaid best of all. I think the first two would work best.

I think Madras House for the photo and Hooded Mermaid for the canvas. Hopefully I got here in time. Good Luck!
ReplyDelete(Oh, yeah I was just noticing that you have MySpace, but I'm not sure which address I need to put in)

I'm having difficulty lining the pictures up with the titles. But I think it's "Farmstead"? - the last one with the speed limit sign and the rolling hill. I could blubber on about how pleasing and mysterious the picture is compositionally, but I'll just say that that's the one that has the biggest eye-popping and lasting impression on me.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you're getting completely different opinions. Sorry. :)
I think the "Madras Trees" is a much better shot than the "Madras House" for simply texture and lighting reasons, and I'm dissapointed it didn't make the cut. :-p
ReplyDeleteBut Farmstead (though small in the clip you attached & actually much better viewed on your Deviant Art page) is a clear winner IMO. It's bright. The colors are intense, so I immediately take notice of it. But then you look at the texture of the grass and the landscape, the subtle variations of greens yellows browns, the shapes and the contours, I like the depth, i like that I'm drawn into the photo, i like the speed sign which somewhat conflicts, but also gives me a point of reference. mmm.... I want to just sit and watch the wind move all the little blades of grass.. it's a really well done foto. :-D First prize. Price tag $500 ^.^ Good Luck Mih!! *hugs*
My vote goes to the butterfy pic. The colour and naturalness did it for me....that and the fact I'm a butterfly freak anyway :)
ReplyDeleteGood Luck to you
Pat :))
I like Warren Burial Ground closely followed by Madras House. Both evoke a desire for days gone by - a more reasonable pace in this crazy world we live in.
ReplyDeleteI love farmhouse and madras house. Farmhouse makes me want to gaze at it for a long time. Madras house is eye-catching and stunning.
ReplyDeleteGood luck picking!
Call me morbid - Warren Burial Ground
ReplyDelete"you're morbid."
ReplyDeleteAnd you are in good company.
;o)
Thanks you guys!
I appreciate your help.
I am the worst judge of my own work (typical from what I hear) and am not afraid to ask for help.
So thank you all!
:o)

Madras House, Absolutely my favorite hands down; if I knew how I'd order a huge blow-up repro for my office.
ReplyDeleteSwear.
These are all awesome, but I think Shadow Puppets gets my vote. :)
ReplyDeleteI like Farmstead & Burial Ground ground best, in that order. Actually, they are all so good that it is tough to make a call... I really liked Mermaid as well, for different reasons. Probably if you pushed me into a corner, I'd say Farmstead's my favorite... it looks like "comfort food" tastes!

I say Hooded Mermaid followed by Madras House.. those two look the most polished to me. too bad you can't submit your abstracts.. I really love that one.. errr.. red.... I think it was a coffee one, but I can't remember off the top of my head.
